Berowra Waters - Estuary Outing Dec 2024

Report by Michael Markich
The weather was looking pretty ordinary which made me feel like I had made the wrong decision getting drenched in the rain rigging up the boat. It rained continuously all the way until I got to Galston and then it got patchy and hints of blue sky started to appear. Pretty much as soon as I got the boat on the water it had almost cleared up. Cameron and I were running a bit late due to the weather but Malcolm Clark , Stephen Boots, Michael Withford , Andreas Peukert, we already on the water. Mal and Steve were in an open boat so they had to brave the weather for an hour but it ended up to be perfect fishing weather when it cleared. Mal and Steve cleaned up in berowra waters landing over 15 legal bream and 2 jewfish between them. Mick Withford and Andreas Peukert got live bait and turned up to fish next to Cameron and I at my favourite jewfish spot in Berowra. The fishing was pretty slow on the jewfish side but we got a few. Mick got his first legal jewfish on live bait and was over the moon as he has been trying for over 15years to get one (congratulations Mick). Andreas got I legal flathead in the low 40cm range as well. Cameron hooked a larger specimen most likely over 1mtr but I threw the hook just next to the boat which had him saying alot of swear words I can't repeat lol. I ended up with a 61cm Jewfish and another 40cm one and my favourite of all time pike eels were also hanging around my boat. Overall the day turned out to be a great day and can't wait to get out there again.
